WHY YOUR COMPANY NEEDS A WELLNESS PROGRAM

Today, more than ever, we are witnessing poor lifestyle choices that impact not only the individual but the entire workforce, company and community in ways we never thought imaginable.  An unwell employee yields higher medical costs, higher insurance premiums, more health and legal claims, more sick leave, poor productivity, more turn-over and associated expenses, an undesirable work culture, poor reputation and potentially traumatic incidences. On an individual level, the lack of wellness truly means poor quality of life.

Our daily decisions affect how our wellness manifests, as health or disease. We spend a good percentage of our day working AND health behavior is contagious. This makes the workplace (even one at home) the perfect place to provide an affordable, safe and effective program for employees to develop their wellness.

As many organizations already know, poor health behaviors are also contagious AND destructive. Getting out in front of their impact is necessary for our own health, our corporation’s health and the health of the community as a whole.

While organizations are not responsible for the complete livelihood of each employee nor the community, the physical, metabolic and mental health decline that we have been witnessing the last few decades has a far-reaching, dangerous and an expensive impact on the workplace and beyond.

A healthy employee workforce that yields a positive culture, less unplanned time-off, less turnover, less medical costs, a valued reputation, and a safer work-site is desired. So, a well employee population is a win-win for the employee, the employer AND the community.

Some health conditions are blatant, some aren’t. Take this 1-Minute Quiz to see how your body speaks to you about your own wellness at https://www.theevolveddietitian.com/bodytalkquiz
